Introduction

Welcome to OFF 120 - Document Preparation and Design with Instructor Lydia Slater.  I hope to provide you with a straightforward learning experience whether you are a on-line learning pro or this is your first jump into distance learning.

By this time you should have received an email with the OFF 120 - Student Guide attached. The student guide outlines the software required to complete the course and web sites and telephone numbers to get help with the various software requirements. If you have not received this email please recheck your EdNet email account. You must use your EdNet account for this course. Please contact me at LSLATER@EDNET.RVC.CC.IL.US if you have not been able to read the email and the attachment.

In order to be successful in this course you must have a basic understanding of EdNet including . The link below will take you to EdNet's home page. From this page you can learn about EdNet, including sending and receiving email, and uploading and retrieving files

 

OK, now you are sure you have all the software and the textbook indicated in the OFF 120 - Student Guide. Your next steps are outlined below:

  1. Read the Syllabus - a link is shown on the navigation bar on the left of this page.
  2. Read and perhaps print out the Assignment schedule - a link is shown on the navigation bar on the left of this page.
  3. Using the navigation link labeled OFF 120 Units, go to the Units page.
  4. Access Unit One and read the introduction lecture.

    For each unit you will read the unit introduction lecture, complete the assignments listed in the Assignment Schedule, upload the required assignments, and take the quiz. That's it, you are ready to go on to the next unit.

    Instructions for taking the quiz will be provided on the day the quiz is available. Each quiz becomes available on a Wednesday and must be completed by Friday.

During the summer the best way to reach me is to send email. I am happy to meet with you in one of the Business Division Computer Labs if you would like face to face assistance. I strive to answer phone calls and email within one business day.
