You must receive a passing grade in each category to pass the course.

Assignments 750 points

Timed Writings 150 points

Assessments (Quizzes and Assessment Documents) 100 points

Assignments

You must upload (turn in) in all assignments listed on the Assignment Schedule.

Assignments consist of:

Warmups: paragraphs designed to increase typing speed.

Drills: a variety of documents with detailed step by step instructions.

Applications: a variety of documents with less detailed instructions.

All assignments are found in your textbook.

Assignments are grouped into the following six units:

Unit One - Word Processing Basics

Unit Two - Business Letter Formats

Unit Three - Simple Reports

Unit Four - Table Basics

Unit Five - Edit Business Documents

Unit Six - Newsletters

NOTE: These units are numbered differently than the way your textbook numbers it's units. This is because you are not completing the first two units your textbook offers.

Assignment Grading: Ten assignments from each unit will be graded. I will choose these assignments, you will not know which assignments I choose to grade individually. You will receive detailed feedback on these documents. The remainder of the documents assigned for each unit will be counted as submitted.

You can earn 100 points, per unit, for the graded assignments and 25 points for the submitted assignments for a total of 125 points per unit.

Graded assignments are returned to you with comments indicating changes needed to improve the document. A point system is used to determine a letter grade. The chart below shows the grading system.

For example, if your document has a comment about incorrect format, followed by a -2, the assignment receives a grade equivalent to a B.

Read all directions carefully. You will not be able to correctly complete the assignments if you do not pay careful attention to the instructions.

Procedures for Submitting Assignments

You will submit documents by uploading the documents to the EdNet conference labeled with the Unit number and then the conference labeled with your name. If you are unfamiliar with uploading documents using EdNet please click on the following link to read detailed directions.  Assignment Submission Tutorial.

Timed Writing Standards

Your timed writing grade will reflect your six best timings.

The typing program Micro-Pace Pro automatically computes your typing speed which is expressed in words per minute (wpm). You may not have more than two errors per minute.

Graded timings may include any combination of:

        · Three minute timings with six or fewer errors.

        · Five minute timings with ten or fewer errors.

The grading scale for timed writings is the following:

25 - 29 C 75
20 - 24 D 65
